2017 Speaker and Presenter

Linda and her husband, Don were 2016 Honorees from The Conservatory at Wells Branch.

Don and Linda Joy are a power team of enthusiasm and encouragement. The family spent 23 years serving in the Air Force, 8 of them living in Germany.

Don and Linda were active in their community and church in Marriage Encounter and as volunteers and teaching youth and adult classes. In 2007, the Austin Catholic Diocese honored them with the Lumen Gentium award, which stands for “Light of the World.” This award  was presented to the couple by the bishop in recognition of service to the mission of the church. Linda was the founder and Director of Ministry Care for St. Theresa's Catholic Church.

Linda was also Director of Child and Family Services at the Austin Center for Attitudinal Healing, a local non-profit that works with children and adults dealing with catastrophic and/or life threatening illness. This experience has assisted her in leading two discussion groups at The Conservatory: Real Talk and Book Share. Both groups encourage residents’ interaction around topics that affect them daily. It also helps them feel like they aren’t alone in their experiences as they laugh and share together.

She enjoys music chorus, gardening, traveling, pickleball, and spending time with her family.
